MECATA Engineers Harness AI to Advance Semi-Autonomous Electric Vehicle Systems

MECATA

20/08/2025 - Design and Analysis of Robust Cruise Control for Electric Vehicles under Dynamic Driving Conditions using (a) Model Predictive Controller and (b) Deep Reinforcement Learning Methods

Unlike fuel-powered cars, electric vehicle technology can be described as “invisible” — its key advantage lies within the unseen software systems that drive its performance.

Two of our Gen-Z research engineers, Irham Agil Kurniawan, an alumnus of Electrical Engineering, Diponegoro University, and Sigit Dani Perkasa, an alumnus of Electrical Engineering, Airlangga University, have explored the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for electric vehicles, offering semi-autonomous driving features.

Their work will be presented at the 21st International Conference on Intelligent Unmanned Systems in Jimbaran, Bali, this week.
